About me
I am a writer of the soul and a healer of memories.
I have traveled a profound journey of inner rebirth where writing has been my medicine and my altar. My soul has embodied many lives in one, lives filled with experiences and memories that have left me with scars and tattoos that are part of the learning process that transcends the material.
I was born in Cuba, the cradle of my mixed-race heritage, a country where I lived for the first 19 years of my life and where I experienced (at a very young age) the first things that shaped my life. I then lived in Spain for almost three decades, a country where I began to lay the first foundations of the woman I have become. Today, I reside in the United States of America, the country where I truly made my quantum leap.
Wherever I go, I carry my world with me: my roots, my grief, my tattoos, my tireless search for truth, my passions, my most precious loves, my light and shadows, my words, my letters... and my wings. Today, I help other souls heal what hurts and is hard to accept, teaching them to remember what is sacred and that vulnerability is not synonymous with weakness.
I write for myself and also for those who long to rediscover themselves. Here I share my books, my "Alma Escrita" program, therapeutic notebooks, reflections, self-help, and all kinds of content that honor the beauty and truth of existence. This space is a refuge (my temple), a corner of sacred nourishment for human beings and their spirits. This is a place where the soul can write, grieve, flourish... and love again.
For years, I signed as Yirka Fuentes Bello (FB), a name from my creative lineage that I will always honor. But today I sign as Yirka Gonzalez, because this married name has restored my respect and given me the opportunity to recover my violated dignity, and also because today my voice flourishes in new territories (without forgetting my roots) and transcends the noise and the mundane. Today, I finally enjoy the privilege of feeling God work through my word.
